Our responsibility as the breeder is to offer help, advice and after care to all new puppy owners, not just while they are puppies, but for the rest of their lives. If the worst comes to the worst we will at any time try and assist in re-homing a dog that we have bred, irrespective of age should your circumstances change. To ensure that our puppies are going to a good home, as any responsible breeder would do, please do not be offended if we ask as many questions about you as you will of us. These questions will also help you in choosing the right puppy, as we will have spent weeks with the puppies and will know their characters and can offer advice to you:
· Have you owned a dog before?
· Why this particular breed?
· Do you have the time to raise and train a puppy?
· Would the puppy be left on its own for long periods of time?
· Do you have children and how will a new puppy fit in?
· Do you live in a suitable environment for this breed?
· What do they feel that they can offer your puppy?
Please remember we will not allow a puppy to go to a new owner if we do not deem them suitable.
What makes a good breeder? Dog breeding is a specialised area although it is not an exact science, but responsible breeding will ensure that any risks are reduced. We pride ourselves in our honesty and will al
ways be happy and willing to offer any general advice to those wishing to breed or to those who wish to buy a new puppy from any breeder in the future. We are not frightened to recommend other breeders who we know and have a similar responsible mindset. Sometimes impartial advice can help make the right choices. This is why it is so important for you to go to a reputable breeder when choosing a puppy. Good breeders will carefully choose a brood bitch or stud dog on the basis of quality relating to the breed standard, breed lines (ancestors and genetics) and compatibility. Research the breed of your choice as thoroughly as you can. Don’t be afraid to ask an owner if you can come and see an adult dog beforehand. Never buy a puppy from someone who does not want you to visit the premises. Beware of anyone selling several litters at a time as it is possible that the puppies will not have been socialised correctly. Many people, anxious to own that puppy, ignore warning signs that they are getting less than the dog of their dreams because they are so eager to be an acceptable buyer to the breeder. You are investing a considerable amount of money in getting the best lines, the best health, the best early socialization and training, and the best expert advice and assistance that will be available to you for the life of the dog. Above all do not feel pressurised into buying a puppy. Good breeders will be more than happy for you to come back and decide at a later date, but try and remember not to waste their time as dog breeders have a family life too.
